Hundreds of Bingo Machines Seized at Greenetrack
Subsequent to implementing a search warrant at two gaming centers at Alabama, which includes the one in Greenetrack in Greene County, the Attorney General’s office seized seven hundred machines earlier today. The incident has recurred yet again at the same gaming center after 800 bingo machines were captured at Greenetrack less than a year ago.
Attorney General Luther Strange “If it had been legal, we would have left them alone and unfortunately we found out it was not legal.” He added that these were indeed not slot machines and this is going against the law and Robert Bentley, the governor is supporting Strange’s call. “We allow the Attorney General to do his job. He and I are on the same page,” said Bentley.
“One, you can’t have a slot machine. Number two, whatever game you are playing has to comply with the Supreme Court’s six-point test and the third thing, it has to do is be charitable,” Strange remarked.
According to Strange, it is in the court’s hands to determine whether these machines are legal or not.
However, the CEO of Greenetrack claimed that all the machines were completely legal and that he has been very particular about taking care of this matter since the inception of the gaming hall. “The issue is going to boil down to whether or not these games play bingo. Now that’s going to be the issue that’s going to be settled in court, whether or not they play bingo,” he said.
“Luther Strange is on the same page as Bob Riley and I think Greenetrack was the only one bold enough to try Luther Strange,” said CBS 8 Political Analyst Steve Flowers. “He’s shown his hand. He is going to be out and about closing them down,” he added.
