New Orleans Enjoys a Bingo Show and Alfred Hitchcock
The city of New Orleans, was recently the home for two unlikely combinations, namely a theatre show and a bingo games series. The two events in question were Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca and the New Orleans Bingo show. The city also featured Paul Sanchez during the same week.
The bingo community of the state of New Orleans was excited to attend the New Orleans Bingo Show which took place at Le Chat Noir in Charles Avenue. This event was held as part of a live multimedia show which featured in it slapstick comedy, seedy personalities who remind you that every stage door opens into a dark alley, clowns, audience interactions and of course plenty of bingo games.
The bingo players who attended the event were pleased to see ingénues, aerialists, dancers and authentic black and white silent films in addition to having bingo games to play. The show began at eight in the night and one ticket was set to cost twenty five dollars.
The quirky film, Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca, was also screened at La Divina Café e Gelateria, in New Orleans over the same week. This film was made back in the 40’s and featured actors like Laurence Olivier and George Sanders. The twist to the climax that no one would expect makes it one of the most critically acclaimed films made by Hitchcock.
A third event that ran alongside the New Orleans Bingo Show was Paul Sanchez’s performance at Frenchmen Street.
